The team behind Yield Yak is helping to shape the future of Avalanche’s L1 ecosystem with the launch of Tesseract, a powerful new liquidity marketplace. For this Avalanche Builder Spotlight, we spoke with Ravageur, a DeFi power user and longtime contributor to Yield Yak and the Avalanche ecosystem. As one of Avalanche’s earliest users and a core contributor to multiple protocols, Ravageur has had a front-row seat to the network’s evolution. Now he’s helping build the infrastructure that will define its future.

From Power User to Core Contributor

Before he ever contributed code or design, Ravageur was a DeFi builder and user. He got involved with Yield Yak simply by offering helpful feedback.

“I approached them with some ideas for improving the product,” he recalls. “Next thing I knew, I was a full-time contributor.”

Yield Yak’s open, DAO-style approach welcomed community input from the start. That ethos helped Ravageur carve out a role even without being a smart-contract developer. He ended up contributing to marketing and strategy, proving his worth and becoming a part of the team.

That same openness extended to his experience with Ava Labs: “They’ve always made it feel like we’re building together. You can give feedback and see it acted on. That’s not something you find on every chain,” he says.

Building on Avalanche

Having built on multiple blockchains, Ravageur didn’t hesitate when asked about how Avalanche compares to others. “It just works,” he says. “Uptime, speed, reliability, those things are easy to take for granted until you’ve tried building elsewhere.”

Enter Tesseract: A Liquidity Marketplace for Avalanche’s L1s

As Avalanche moves toward a network-of-networks architecture, one big challenge is ensuring that all these custom L1s can still talk to each other and access liquidity. That’s where Tesseract comes in.

“We’re calling it a liquidity marketplace,” Ravageur explains. “It scans all the liquidity across Avalanche, on the C-Chain and all the connected L1s, and routes trades in the most efficient way possible.”

Whether it’s swapping tokens, lending cross-chain, or enabling in-game purchases, Tesseract acts as a universal router, abstracting away complexity while tapping into Avalanche’s full liquidity. “From the user’s point of view, it’s simple: you get the best price. But under the hood, we’re passing messages between chains in seconds, across multiple hops,” he says.

What’s more, Tesseract is being built open source, allowing new L1s to integrate it out of the box and immediately plug into Avalanche’s deep DeFi ecosystem.

Real-World Impact and Use Cases

The potential use cases range from ticketing and gaming to powering Bitcoin-backed subnets. Ravageur pointed to one upcoming L1 where Bitcoin miners will be able to tap into Avalanche’s BTC.b liquidity instantly via Tesseract.

“You can build your own economic zone and still have full access to the financial tools on the C-Chain. That’s a game-changer for both enterprise and grassroots builders,” he says.

Advice for New Builders

When asked what advice he’d give to someone building on Avalanche today, Ravageur suggested a practical approach:

“Use the products. Not just your own—your competitors’ too. Get in the communities, understand what they’re solving. It’ll help you speak their language when it comes time to collaborate,” he says. He also encourages developers not to chase trends and to stay focused on your own project.

Looking Ahead: Adoption Without Friction

For Ravageur, true adoption will come when blockchain is powering experiences that don’t even feel like blockchain.

“I want to see people using Avalanche without realizing it. Like trading in an app, where you’re just getting the best rate, but under the hood, it’s all happening on-chain.”

Whether it’s consumer finance, gaming or high-speed trading, Tesseract is poised to play a key role in making blockchain more accessible to more users.
