Codebase by Avalanche, a 12-week accelerator program supporting early-stage Web3 startups, has begun to accept applications today, November 9. Companies accepted into Codebase will receive a $50k stipend; support from the Avalanche Foundation, Web2 unicorns, and proven Web3 builders; and the chance to pitch for a $400k prize pool of investment at a culminating Demo Day.

During the 12 weeks, high-potential startups will be immersed in programming organized by the Avalanche Foundation with the support of Web2 and Web3 leaders. So far, service providers and mentors include:

• Web2: Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, Carta, Deel, Brex

• Web3: Chainlink, Circle, Chainstack, OpenZeppelin, Fireblocks, BitGo, Biconomy

The first cohort will start in Spring 2024. Programming will kick off with an in-person roadmap-planning session with a dedicated Avalanche coach. For the rest of Codebase, startups will attend remote sessions with Ava Labs technical staff, as well as business sessions focused on product, go-to-market, business operations planning, organizational development, and fundraising. Business sessions will be led by both Avalanche Foundation and the Web2/Web3 mentors. 

For good reason, the blockchain space is known for talented builders with big dreams. Codebase intends to give the highest-impact founders with the most transformational ideas the business and marketing tools to make the most of them, elevating not only themselves but Avalanche and the whole Web3 community. 

The participation of market-leading Web2 operators is key to this goal. 

Leveraging the experience of Web2 leaders, who have built some of the most successful companies of the past generation, will offer an invaluable boost to promising Web3 founders as they begin to juggle their technical project and the added task of developing a company. 

Codebase is a globally distributed program accepting applications from across the world. The first cohort will have hubs in Buenos Aires, Argentina and Bangalore, India. These hubs fit Codebase for their quality of local talent, number of Web3 developers, strength of local startup ecosystems, and the presence of Avalanche team members. 

Additionally, with an eye to the future, Codebase projects will receive guidance on fundraising, including deck design, storytelling, and pitch practice. 

At the close of each Codebase cohort, a high-stakes demo day will feature companies pitching on-stage for the chance to win a $400k prize pool of investment from the Avalanche Foundation.

Founders must also master business, marketing, user experience, and other areas to attract users and become profitable. Codebase steeps founders in these other facets, giving them the tools they need to become category-leaders.”

Codebase will be highly selective: fewer than1% of applicants will have the opportunity to join the spring 2024 cohort. Participants must be early-stage, meaning they must not have previously raised $250k+.
