Artist Spotlight: Three Creators Drawing the NFT Future

Many of the adventurous drawers and doodlers of the world have embraced digital art and NFTs, using the technology as a vehicle to monetize their art. The Avalanche NFT scene is spilling with great drawers. Many come from related design fields. Many are just now entering NFTs. Many have wild, refreshing, deeply unique styles. Many are undiscovered.

Avaissance extends this tradition, as the Ava Labs NFT team has introduced new drawing firepower to the community. Meet three pros ready to drop unforgettable collections.

You may have peered into Ang Chen’s imagination. The California illustrator has designed characters and environments for LucasFilms. She’s a concept designer for Riot Games. Her instantly recognizable style pulls from art nouveau, art deco, and psychedelics. When drawing, she gives shape to whatever happens to be in her imagination.

“Right now it’s astronauts,” Ang said. “I feel a lot of uncertainty these days, and a lone astronaut floating in space feels very spot-on. Space to me is synonymous with the unknown, and with things changing so rapidly all the time, the future is a bit murky. I feel like an astronaut bonking around space. Where’s my ship? Will I make it? Who knows.”

The Avalanche NFT scene is lucky to have Ang’s creativity and talents. She’s a relative newcomer to the NFT scene who enjoys its sense of openness and possibility.

“NFTs are exciting,” she said. “It feels a bit like the Wild West, and no one really knows exactly how the dust will settle.”

She also digs the boundless variety of NFTs. “It’s fun all the different forms NFTs can take,” she said. “They’re oddly honest.”

Even as a relative NFT newbie, Ang feels at home in the Avalanche community. “Avalanche is very welcoming and beginner-friendly,” she said. “Sometimes the NFT world can seem daunting, but the community building and the resources available makes an entrance more comfortable. I feel good about Avalanche, even though I only just got started.”

Karyagar is a teacher of “orthographic and isometric” drawing methods in Istanbul, one who just took the leap from a design agency to focus on art full-time. Karyagar is an industrial artist.

What does that mean? For Karyagar, it means a style inspired by architecture, minimalism, nostalgia, and evoking “a sense of belonging, inviting viewers to explore and spark their imagination through playful and vibrant worlds.”

For instance, take Karyagar’s Train Series. Lately, Karyagar has gotten heavily into NFTs, even minting some pixel-style voxel work.

“NFTs offer a unique and exciting opportunity to showcase and sell digital artwork in a decentralized and secure manner,” Karyagar said. “NFTs also provide a way to establish direct connections with collectors and art enthusiasts worldwide, opening new avenues for collaboration and exposure.”

As an artist, Karyagar embraces a mindset of openness to the new, which has opened a set of doors leading to NFTs, and now to Avalanche.

The drawer and digital artist Kspaze has reached a critical juncture in his time moonlighting as an NFT artist. After a long streak of work including commissions, PFP projects, executing the visions of clients rather than his own, and even being curated by Gamestop, he’s ready to drop his first 1/1 collection. He believes that Avaissance will help him.

“It’s exciting to have the opportunity to meet fellow artists, to network with Ava Labs team, and to have the mentorship of John Le,” Kspaze said. “On top of that, Avaissance gives me exposure to the 1/1 art scene and the chance to create my first 1/1 collection, which is my desired career.”

Today, Kspaze, a scientist with a PhD in nanomaterials and biotechnology, is co-founder of a Singaporean tech startup. A former breakdancer, he took to doodling and graffiti 13 years ago. He turned to digital art in 2016. His work pulls from street art, cartoons, and has a potent futurism.

Being an artist who draws “futuristic aesthetics of technology,” Kspaze ponders the future. He believes NFTs will have a prime place. “I’m bullish on NFT,” he said. “They allow artists to authenticate their works and will be a digital-counterpart of physical art galleries and museums.”

Kspaze is grateful his winding path has led him to Avalanche.

“I’m new to Avalanche,” he said. “The community has been very welcoming and willing to help. Avaissance offers a fantastic opportunity and such a warm environment.”
