Avalanche recently announced the upcoming phase-out of the Avalanche Wallet, marking a transition towards Core Stake. This move is aimed at enhancing the user experience by introducing advanced staking features and aligning with Avalanche's commitment to continual improvement.

As of this blog post, the phase-out is now scheduled for March, 2024. This date may be subject to further change as we continue to evaluate your feedback. To aid in this process, you’re invited to share your user experience requests and product feedback for Core Stake using this form 📝 

About Core

Launched by Ava Labs in 2022, Core has become the home for exploring the world of Avalanche. Available as a web app and wallet on mobile or Chrome Browser Extension, Core’s sole purpose is to onboard the world to Avalanche technology.

Transition to Core Stake

Core Stake provides a more comprehensive and efficient overview of staking operations and portfolio management. It incorporates the latest in staking features and upcoming innovations like Elastic Subnet Staking. This transition from the old wallet is because Ava Labs wants to ensure these features are accessible in a tool that is continuously updated and improved.

How to Prepare

No immediate action is required. Your wallet and staking rewards remain unaffected. Simply start using Core for wallet access and staking tools. Your delegations and validations remain unaffected. Continue accessing your account with your existing recovery phrase or Ledger through Core.

Why phase out the Avalanche web wallet?

How is Core Stake better?

Core Stake offers a streamlined, comprehensive view of staking operations and portfolio management, integrating the latest staking features and is preparing for a number of future staking advancements.  

Do I need to take action now?

No immediate action is required. Your wallet and staking rewards remain unaffected. Simply start using Core for wallet access and staking tools.

What happens to active delegations and validations?

They remain unaffected. Continue accessing your account with your existing recovery phrase or Ledger through Core.

Will my seed phrase work with Core?

Yes, your Avalanche wallet seed phrase is compatible with Core.

Accessing with a private key?

Import your private key into an established Core wallet for access.

Can I stake with my Ledger?Yes, you can. There are two ways to stake with Ledger

1. If you don’t want to use Core Browser Extension you can connect Ledger directly to Core.app to begin staking.

2. You can connect Ledger to your Core Browser Extension then connect your extension to core.app to stake. 

Why can't I see my full stake history?

There may be a few reasons:

1. This might occur when using a private key. Check this article for clarity: Core Web: Stake History Visibility

2. There is currently a limit of 64 address P-chain addresses that can be displayed on Core. This affects those who have been staking on the old Web wallet for a long time. Do not fret! We have a solution that will be out soon and you will be able to see your whole portfolio in Core.

3. If you are still experiencing issues, please reach out to our support team on Core!

Not seeing staked AVAX in Core extension?

Connect your Core extension to Core web (core.app) to view P and X-Chain balances and access Core Stake features.

What about staking rewards?

Your rewards remain intact and unaffected. View them in Core Stake after setting up the Core extension.

Does Core support keystore files?

It currently does not, but the Core team is working on a solution to enable keystore file support long-term. It is recommended to use a Ledger instead of keystore files. 

What if I can't access my staked AVAX before January 23rd?

No problem. No immediate action is needed. Access it through Core Stake once unstaked, using your recovery phrase or Ledger.
