Video games are evolving thanks to new features only possible with blockchain. The very early days of blockchain gaming are ending, and the genre is growing up on Avalanche. Why? The game has been ecstatically previewed by leading streamers. Where does Avalanche come in? Play-to-own Web3 mechanics, which players have the option to engage with. Adding digital ownership rewards players for achievements and raises the stakes, adding a new dimension of gameplay. Gunzilla Games, the studio behind Off the Grid, is also developing the Avalanche Subnet GUNZ – which will offer tools and a launchpad to other gaming studios. 

2. TSM Blitz (Gaming Platform) 

Curveball: This isn’t a game but a seismic project that will boost Web3 gaming. The esports, video game, and creator-focused company TSM and its competitive gaming platform Blitz will be using Avalanche to create new experiences across the gaming spectrum: for fans, players, and creators. Blitz, which has 30 million users, is building atop an Avalanche Subnet. Why? To harness the blockchain speed, security, and flexibility needed to integrate digital assets and Web3 elements in ways that add new value to the gaming experience for everyone.

3. Shrapnel (FPS) 

Shrapnel is a modable extraction-based AAA FPS built using Unreal Engine 5. That may seem like a mouthful, but this game has a lot going on. Highly realistic graphics breathe life into its futuristic setting: earth in 2044, when a wide swath of the planet has changed into The Zone after getting showered with debris when an asteroid crashed into the moon. Players venture into The Zone, battle one another, extract resources, and get out. Avalanche is the engine of the game’s NFT economy, which features guns, wearables, and more. Players can use these NFTs to create content. 

4. Domi Online (MMORPG)

Domi Online is an MMO without a level or skill ceiling, meaning your character can grow stronger and better limitlessly. Within the MMORPG genre, Domi has a cozy, storybook medieval aesthetic that brings to mind World of Warcraft. Players tackle quests and pwn mobs, amass loot, earn experience points, and join guilds just like in Web2 MMOs. So why Web3? Tokenization boosts rewards distribution, purchasing in-game assets, and governance. Players with tokens have the ability to vote on in-game design changes and character rebalancing. Oh, and you can own your gear.

5.Fableborne (ARPG/Strategy)

After scraping its first five games pre-release, Pixion Studios has released an alpha mode of Fableborne, a hybrid of an action RPG like Diablo and a strategy game. Players raid dungeons created by other users, putting user-generated content at the heart. Raiding is active. Players control how and when to best take down enemy bases. Web3 elements enhance the user-generated content experience, live events, and unlock ownership of in-game assets. That’s just the beginning – as the mobile game moves toward full release and beyond, Pixion will be introducing new Web3 features.
